Our Mission: To support individuals with disabilities by expanding their social network, through the promotion of choice, opportunity, and independence within their own communities.
The philosophy of the Recreation Department is that through quality and varied activities an individual gains a sense of purpose and achievement, resulting in confidence and positive self-esteem. We encourage people to be active participants, not spectators. We are committed to offering structured and unstructured activities, personal and group challenges, necessary supports, and mutually rewarding relationships within our community.
The Recreation Department offers a wide variety of activities for all age ranges and interests: Special Olympics sports training, Integrated (or Unified) Sports, Community Experiences and Leisure Activities. We recognize each person’s unique abilities and are driven by an endless pursuit to create a positive atmosphere where everyone belongs. We focus on “I Can!” rather than “I Cannot.” The friendships that are developed increase self-esteem and self-worth and will stay with the participant even when outside our programs
It is our goal to open new doors, and our promise to bring you through!
