Internet Message Boards

What is an Internet Message Board?

Internet Message Boards, also called "message forums," allow world wide web users to hold online discussion groups on any topic.

Unlike Internet Mailing Lists, which hold discussions through emails, Message Boards are hosted on a website. Users "post" (or submit) their messages for others to read and respond to right on the website.

An Internet Message Board is much like an old-fashioned bulletin board where one can tack up a message about anything and have others read it and respond to it.

In order to post messages to a Message Board, users generally will be asked to register on the website. This requires picking out a unique username and password. You may also be asked to supply an email address or other information, but this additional information will not be visible on the Message Board itself.

Once registered on the website, you can begin posting with the username you have chosen.

When you wish to post a message, you will be prompted to put in your username and password. On some websites you will not be allowed to read any messages without first logging in with your username, but this will vary by website.

As a convenience we have put togather a listing of message boards that may be if interest.  Please note that these are not in any way associated with the J. Arthur Trudeau Memorial Center or Kent County Chapter of RI Arc.
