Senior Services
We offer Senior Services for adults with developmental
disabilities past their best working years. Our staff works on
developing relationships between individuals with community centers
and community senior centers and assist in placement there.
Additionally, the Trudeau Memorial Center staff offer some volunteer
and recreational and leisure opportunities to seniors.
Senior Services at the Trudeau Memorial Center are an eclectic
mix of programs and activities. Some individuals prefer full day
placements at a center, others may pick and choose from a variety of
options, including recreational and leisure activities, placement at
a senior or community center, or individualized services.
While an individual may become involved at
any age, typically they become involved in Senior Services after the
age of 50.
In
order to receive Senior Services, the individual must be determined
eligible by the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). All
adults who receive services from DDD have a caseworker already
assigned to them and should contact that person to request Senior
Services. Additionally, the individual will speak with his/her case
manager at the Trudeau Memorial Center for a referral to the Senior
Services program.
There are two types of costs for Senior Services. Program costs
are funded by the Division of Developmental Disabilities or private
pay. Lunches and activity fees may be incurred as well, and are paid
by the individual.
Due to the nature of Senior Services being within the
communities, the services may take place throughout Kent County.
Transportation may be provided by RIDE, the family of the
individual, the residential provider, or the Trudeau Memorial Center
staff.
