Residential Services
We offer a wide variety of Residential Services for adults with developmental disabilities.
The residential services available range from homes which provide twenty four hour staffing to apartments where there is limited support. All services are individualized to meet the
current needs of the person. To the greatest extent possible, people live in the type of home environment which best meets their wishes and needs. Annual meetings which review the wishes
and goals of the adults supported assist the Trudeau team to provide the best possible quality care. Review of these goals on a frequent basis to assessthe satisfaction of people
supported allows the team to make adjustments necessary to ensure the person's happiness and safety. As always, families and friends of the person supported are an important part of
the Trudeau team.
The models of residential services currently offered by the Trudeau Memorial Center include these:
- 24-hour-staffed, fully accessible homes, with approximately 5 -7 adults
- Homes of approximately 3 to 6 adults with 24-hoursupervision
- Apartment programs with 24-hour staff support
- Apartment programs with 5 hours (or more) per week of staff support
The apartment programs reflect the unique kind of supports that a person may need and the type of apartment complex in which the apartment is situated. Some apartments represent true
inclusionary living, situated within community apartment buildings. In otherapartment's situations, a few apartments are located within the same complex in order to benefit from
shared staff support resulting in greater opportunities for shared experiences and friendships for the individuals living there.
Staff support varies according to the needs of the individual, and may include assistance in: banking, budgeting, meal preparation, daily household chores, community integration, personal hygiene, recreational opportunities or other identified needs.
Current apartment and group homes staffed by the Trudeau Memorial Center are located throughout the Kent County area, as well as one in Exeter.
Residential services are funded through the Rhode Island Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) and offered to individuals with developmental disabilities after the age of
21. Individuals must meet DDD's eligibility requirements, and be deem edeligible for residential services by their assigned DDD Social Worker.
